Newport County AFC moves to second as Saikou Janneh grasp first goal

Saikou Janneh’s Newport County AFC are second in the Sky Bet League Two table as a result of a home victory against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

The Gunjur born Saikou scored his first goal for the Exiles from close range from a corner at the 25th minute mark at Rodney Parade.

Saikou Janneh’s lone goal secured the win for the Welsh outfit which ensured that Newport County secured their fourth win of the 2020/21 League Two season.

The win was a fitting birthday gift to manager Michael Flynn who celebrated his 40th Birthday over the weekend.

As the game drew to a close, Saikou Janneh could have increased his goal tally when he pounced on a pass from teammate Scot Twine only for him to be denied by Tranmere stopper Murphy.
