Rotterdam, Netherlands – Ahmed Manjang, a distinguished scientist and lecturer at the University of The Gambia (UTG), is currently leading a promising medical research project in Rotterdam alongside two outstanding final-year medical students, Modou Lamin Touray and Abubacarr F. Darboe.

The team is investigating the antimicrobial properties of mango peel and Cumbretum (locally known as Jambakatang) - natural substances that may offer important breakthroughs in combating antimicrobial resistance, a growing global health threat.
The research is funded through the Erasmus Mobility Grant, a prestigious program that supports international academic exchange and capacity building.

Announcing the trip, Mr. Manjang said:
“We kindly ask for your prayers and well wishes as we dive into this exciting chapter of scientific discovery. Onward to innovation and impact!”
This initiative represents a significant step forward in natural product research and reflects the rising global presence and potential of Gambian science and innovation on the world stage.
