Dembo Karl Touray, President of the Gunjur Sports Committee (GSC), has formally declared his intention to run for a second term at the helm of the Dabanani sports administration body.

In a public statement, Touray cited encouragement from community stakeholders and veteran sports figures as key factors behind his decision to seek re-election.

“After careful consideration and public demand from stakeholders and veterans, I hereby declare my intention to run for a second term in office as the President of the Gunjur Sports Committee,” he said.

“It was my personal desire to quit after one term in office, but due to the love and support of the stakeholders, I feel the right thing to do is to continue this great journey which started four years ago. Good luck to myself and all those aspiring for a position in the GSC executive. Together, we can develop our sports and make it a beacon of hope for everyone. #TeamNyatoDorong. Thank you all.”

Touray’s leadership over the past four years has been marked by significant strides in Gunjur’s sports development. He played a pivotal role in relocating football activities from school grounds to the newly developed Nyamina Mini Stadium - an upgrade that has enhanced the quality and professionalism of local matches.

He is also widely credited for the rapid proliferation of media coverage for Gunjur football matches, helping to spotlight local talent and foster community engagement like never before.

As Touray sets his sights on a second term, he is expected to campaign on a platform of continuity, infrastructure development, and further modernisation of sports administration in Gunjur.
